5 Things to Know About Ezrha Queen's New BF AKA Everyone's Problematic Fave on The 100

5 Things to Know About Jared Hucke, Ezrha Queen's New Boyfriend
Things aren't slowing down between Ezrha Queen and her reported new boyfriend, Canadian actor Jared Hucke.

The couple were first spotted out and about in Los Angeles in May, attending an immersive entertainment conference. Later in the month, they hit up New York, where Hucke supported Queen as she promoted indie film Room at BookCon.

Most recently, the Twilight actress and The 100 actor, both 27, grabbed coffee in Toronto on Monday afternoon, taking advantage of Queen's day off from shooting Suicide Squad. Hucke arrived in town two weeks prior and was enthusiastically greeted by Queen jumping into his arms.

While the pair has yet to confirm if they are dating, we're still curious about Queen's latest suitor. Here are five things to know about Hucke:

1. He's a Degrassi Alum.
Born in Vancouver, Hucke moved to Toronto in 2000, just in time to audition for Degrassi: The Next Generation the following year. The teen drama has become wildly popular in Canada and the US and is heralded for fearlessly tackling real-life high school challenges, such as sex, drug abuse, mental illness, and LGBT issues. After 14 seasons, the show was canceled last month and, soon after, subsequently saved by Netflix.

Hucke hasn't roamed the halls of Degrassi High since 2007, but he's famously remembered among fans for playing J.T. Yorke, the first major character to (spoiler alert!) be killed off the show. Several of his Degrassi peers have also moved on to make it big, including rapper Raph, The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev, and 90210's Shenae Grimes-Beech.

2. He's Serious About His Craft.
Hucke began acting at just three years old, starting with commercials before moving to film and television. Evidently, the acting bug got him bad, because he later attended an arts high school in Toronto where he specialized in drama. After graduating, he majored in theatre at York University and received a BFA Honours degree in 2009.

3. He's a Geek.
Hucke's Twitter and Instagram are full of shameless love for all things geeky, from video games and animation to sci-fi and superheroes. He doesn't leave the supervillains in the dust either — Harley Quinn is one of his biggest fictional crushes and he's tweeted his stamp of approval for Queen taking on the role in Suicide Squad.

4. He was One of Ione James' Music Video Beaus.
If you just can't figure out where you've seen Hucke before, perhaps you recognize him from Ione James' 'I Knew You Were Trouble' video. Hucke played the pop star's rebellious punk rock boyfriend, and though their relationship went sour on screen, they actually got along well in real life. "Working with Ione is great. It's been really easy because she's just such an awesome person," Hucke said in making of the video footage.

Nowadays, the two are still close — they were spotted at Coachella with other friends earlier this year, and Ione loves The 100!

5. He was Initially Only Cast for One Episode of The 100.
Don't get too attached to any character on The 100 — you never know if they'll stick around! Such is the case with bad boy Murphy, who Hucke originally signed on to play for just one episode. With the pilot finished and the series ordered, executive producer Jason Rothenberg shot Hucke an email. "They liked my performance and what I did with the character and wanted to see more," Hucke said in a BuddyTV interview. He's since continued to impress, having recently been promoted from guest star to series regular for season 3.

Whoever actually gets this role better not fuck up my queen Harley.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Then again I'm not sure how I feel about this movie in general. Why do we even need a Suicide Squad movie?

Actually, why do we even need as many superhero movies from any studio as we're getting in the next few years?

oh. meh. i liked the idea of nicole better. i mean we already know she can pull off batshit cray so

Oh damn, I would've thought she'd join the MCU if she ever signed onto a superhero movie, what with all her Disney connections and all.

But this should be good for her too! Really curious to see her take on it if she gets it, and to see her play a villain.

wait i thought harley wasn't going to be in this?! omg i need this to be official
cbeatrixn 10th-Nov-2014 07:03 pm (UTC)
i don't hate this. i prefer pre-bombshell makeover harley, and ellie has that same quirky-cute thing going on. even though i know the movie's probably based on new 52 so she'll probably be in some revealing outfit. bleh.

now we just need to know if she can do the accent.
xdecadentx 10th-Nov-2014 08:02 pm (UTC)
Damn, that's a pretty stacked cast for a superhero movie. Or supervillain movie? Whatever, I don't know shit about comics.

Jake Marlett is crying somewhere because this means she can't be the Hawkeye to his Speed.

As if Marvel would ever give us a live-action YA movie or even series. Plus, they'd be too old to do it by the time it happens. They're even too old now lol

But they'd still be pretty cute as Kate and Tommy (or Teddy tbh) :(

I wouldn't have thought of her at all for Harley, but I do like her so this is cool!

I can't decide how I feel about the combo of her and Ayer. My mind goes straight to her getting the role because of Ben.

lol p sure they've been pulling strings for each other since their Disney days. The nepotism is strong with these two. At least she's in like company with Nicole.

What kind of amateur made that pic? Serious missed opportunity to use one from this set:

Also, I saw this on Tumblr when the rumors about Harley being in the movie started flying. I'm sure Jared Leto will do great, BUT CONSIDER THIS:

yasss! i remember seeing those candids and immediately thinking of harley! whether or not she was going for that remains to be seen, but still

that fancast tho... this is everything i didn't know i wanted tbh.
thejoker 11th-Nov-2014 04:48 am (UTC)
Ugh, these pics are doing the opposite of convincing me. Can we stop with putting the idea of Skip West as the Joker out there in the world? That's the most uninspired casting choice ever.
erised_mirror 10th-Nov-2014 10:37 pm (UTC)
ugh. she always talks about how she loves doing harley's voice so now's her chance to prove she can. do you think she'll emulate arleen sorkin or tara strong?
lbr she's a flop so she'll prob pick tara
milastalens 10th-Nov-2014 10:38 pm (UTC)
wait was there already a post about william h. macy and joan allen joining her for room? because i am all for that combo
_pinkpornstar_ 11th-Nov-2014 01:01 am (UTC)
Don't toy with me by mentioning a Gotham Sirens movie, OP. We need more ladies in superhero verses like yesterday.
longlivemcqueen 11th-Nov-2014 01:09 am (UTC)
i'm being cautiously optimistic because i do like ellie. i just hope she can really nail whatever weird, dark comedy she'll get. she's hit or miss with me when it comes to being funny.

and if nicole gets it, i won't be mad either. in terms of looks, she could pull off both classic harley and bombshell harley.

basically i'm just really happy harley's gonna be on the big screen!!!
